LETU Forum
LETU Forum is a community for LeTourneau students — discussion topics, events, chat, and voice rooms — available on the web and in the LETU Forum app for iPhone. This supplement covers how the community works, what is expected of members, and how moderation happens.
01Scope
This supplement applies to LETU Forum, reachable at letuforum.com, and to the LETU Forum app for iOS. It sits on top of the OWCOL General Terms and the OWCOL Privacy Policy, both of which apply in full. Where this supplement and the General Terms conflict, this supplement controls — for this service only.
02What this service is
LETU Forum is a self-hosted deployment of Discourse at letuforum.com. It provides public-to-members discussion topics organized into categories, an events calendar, real-time chat channels and direct messages, and voice rooms. The iOS app is a client for the same service: it signs in to your forum account and shows the same content.
Unlike most OWCOL services, LETU Forum is a shared community space. What you post in topics, chat channels, and voice rooms is seen and heard by other members.
03Access and accounts
LETU Forum is available only to signed-in members. Accounts are created by invitation or by signing in with an eligible account, such as a LeTourneau Microsoft account; there is no anonymous access.
- You must be at least 13 years old. One account per person; do not create accounts to evade a suspension or to impersonate someone.
- Your username, display name, and avatar are visible to other members. Choose them as you would for any public space.
- Signing in to the iOS app issues a revocable key for your account. You can revoke it by signing out, or from your account preferences on
letuforum.com.
04Community rules
In addition to the acceptable-use rules in the General Terms, and the community guidelines published on the forum, when using LETU Forum you agree not to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or demean anyone, including through direct messages, reactions, or repeated unwanted contact.
- Post sexually explicit, hateful, or violent content, or content that encourages self-harm.
- Share someone else’s private information — contact details, photos, schedules, prayer requests, or personal situations — without their permission.
- Impersonate another person, staff member, or organization.
- Post spam, advertising unrelated to the community, scams, or misleading listings in Buy and Sell.
- Record or rebroadcast a voice room without the consent of everyone in it.
- Use automated accounts or bots without the administrator’s permission.
Zero tolerance
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts responsible for it may be suspended or permanently banned without warning.
05Moderation, reporting, and blocking
For this service, the “does not routinely monitor” statement in section 6 of the General Terms is narrowed: LETU Forum is moderated. Moderators — the administrator and volunteer members appointed by them — review reported content and may edit, hide, move, or delete posts and messages, close topics, and warn, silence, or suspend members.
- Reporting. Any post or chat message can be reported from its menu on the web or in the app. Reports go to the moderators’ review queue; the author is not told who reported them. Reports are reviewed as promptly as volunteer time allows, and content that is clearly illegal or dangerous is acted on first.
- Blocking. You can block (“ignore”) any member. You will no longer see their posts, chat messages, or notifications. They are not told. You can unblock them at any time from your account or the app’s Me tab.
- Direct messages are visible to their participants. The administrator can access them only as described in the Privacy Policy — for example, when investigating a report.
06Your content and data here
You keep ownership of what you post, as described in the General Terms. Because this is a community service, the permission you grant OWCOL includes displaying your posts, chat messages, reactions, and profile to other members, and keeping replies, quotes, and threads intact after you leave so that conversations still make sense.
What LETU Forum stores, and how long it is kept, is listed in the Privacy Policy, including a section on the iOS app.
07The iOS app
The LETU Forum app is provided under these terms and, for apps obtained from Apple, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where they differ, these terms apply between you and OWCOL; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to support it.
- Pre-release (TestFlight) builds may be incomplete or unstable and can expire without notice.
- Voice rooms connect participants directly to each other. Your network address is visible to other participants and to the connection servers described in the Privacy Policy.
- GIFs are provided by KLIPY. Choosing a GIF does not exempt it from the community rules.
08Availability and maintenance
LETU Forum is provided on the same reasonable-effort, no-SLA basis as every other OWCOL service. See Availability and changes in the General Terms. Chat, voice rooms, and push notifications depend on additional components and may be unavailable while the rest of the forum works.
09Ending your use
You can delete your account from Preferences → Account on letuforum.com, which the app’s Me tab links to, or by emailing admin@owcol.com. Deleting the app does not delete your account.
When an account is deleted, its posts may be removed or kept with the author shown as anonymous, so that other members’ replies still make sense. OWCOL may suspend or terminate access under section 9 of the General Terms and section 5 above.
10Upstream software
LETU Forum is an independently operated deployment of Discourse, an open-source project. OWCOL is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Civilized Discourse Construction Kit, Inc., which provides no support or warranty for this deployment. GIF search is provided by KLIPY. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Upstream updates may change or remove features without notice from OWCOL.
